Sillerud is a village between Årjäng and Karlstad along the E-18, about 15 minutes by car from holiday home Silltal. In Sillerud there is an ICA supermarket and a petrol station. The village has about 120 inhabitants and it is believed that an ancestor of the presidential family Busch came from Sillerud. Sillerud is the combination of the names Sill (Swedish word for herring) and rud which means small deforested area.

The ICA supermarket in Sillerud is located next to the former station building, in the summer months the terrace is open for a cup of coffee. The village of Sillerud is located on the Svensbysjön and offers a very beautiful varied landscape with extensive forests interspersed with fields and farms here and there.

Church of Sillerud:
The striking church of Sillerud is located on a hill outside the village, it is worth visiting this quiet spot with striking graves in a park-like setting. The church was built by architect Emil Langlet and is one of the examples of his architectural creations. His inspiration was the surrounding landscape and the central church in which everyone had to hear and see equally well. He created hexagonal churches without a specially marked tower. The bell tower is therefore in the middle of the church space. The construction of the current church of Sillerud was preceded by a wooden cruciform church from 1662 and before that there was a medieval wooden church. Campsites and outdoor activities near Sillerud:
Due to the beautiful surroundings at the Glaskogen nature reserve and many canoe routes, there are a few beautifully situated campsites near Sillerud with extra facilities as well as a beautifully landscaped golf course.

● Sandaholm Camping & Restaurant is located at the Järnsjön lake, about 10 minutes drive from Sillerud. Sandaholm has an excellent restaurant and a spacious outdoor terrace with a beautiful view of the Järnsjön lake.

● Camp Grynsby at the lake Stora Bör is also beautifully situated near the Glaskogen nature reserve and offers fresh bread rolls from the food truck in the morning. The lake Stora Bör at Camp Grinsby has many islands and offers good fishing water.

● Årjängs Golfklubb: this is one of the most beautiful golf courses in West Sweden next to Svensbynsjön and Snarkil. It is a hilly park and forest course with 18 holes, designed by Peter Nordvall. According to experts, this course is a hidden gem. Årjängs Golfklubb near Snarkil also has a restaurant with a beautiful view of the golf course and surroundings.
