EU Pet passport:
The pet must be registered. It is only possible to travel with an animal with the EU pet passport. This consists of two parts. A standardised part, with information about the identity of the animal, the vaccinations given and any other treatments. At the back is a section that the publisher can fill in themselves. The EU pet passport is available from the vet.
The Microchip:
The dog or pet must have a clearly readable tattoo or microchip. The chip must meet the ISO standards because it is read at the Swedish border crossings. In addition, the chip has the advantage that a runaway animal can be found more quickly.
Vaccination against rabies
The animal must be vaccinated against rabies by a recognized veterinarian and with an internationally recognized vaccine before departure to Sweden. The vaccination can be given when the animal is at least 3 months old, after vaccination you must wait 3 weeks before your pet can travel to Sweden.
Customs in Sweden:
Every time you enter Sweden you must report the dog or pet, this can be done both online and at the border crossing in Sweden. More information can be found on the website of the Swedish customs or agricultural service from Sweden.
